If you have a bunch of old shirts or sweatshirts that you love but can’t wear anymore for numerous reasons, read on to learn what you can do with them!
I have a problem getting rid of clothes, especially those I love. I decided there are many things you can do with old shirts that you can’t wear anymore!
1. Make a “Cut-Off.”
I do this with most of my shirts at some point because they get holes in the armpit. Cutting the sleeves off only makes sense, so there is only one hole instead of two. Did I confuse you yet? 😉

- Make sure you know where you want to cut, make a pattern if need be. I usually just follow the seam but you can do whatever you like!

1.Go for it! Cut the shirt, and Voila! You have a new shirt with no hole in the armpit!
2. Make a Quilt
I’m still working on mine, clearly. I will be working on my shirt quilt for a long time. Currently, this is what I have. I will eventually sew the pieces of the shirts together, then sew a back part to it, making a quilt of all the places I have been or shirts that mean something to me. I buy a sweatshirt every location I visit, so this is super convenient!

3. Tie Dye!
I absolutely love tie-dying things. It’s fun while also re-inventing (or covering a stain🤭) your shirt simultaneously! I have tie-dyed all of my white sweatshirts, shirts, and pillowcases; if it’s white, it is getting tie-dyed.
- First, tie the shirt or item you are tie-dying, using rubber bands like the picture below. Google has a lot of designs for you to use!
- Secondly, dye the shirt in the pattern you want to use; again, Google is your friend here!
- Let set overnight; I let these set for about 48 hours.
Rinse with COLD water until the water runs clear, then wash and dry as usual. - Boom! You have a brand new shirt! 🤯
