When I was a child, I went to Branson, Missouri, to see the Grand Ole Opry, ‘Country’s most Famous Stage.’ The Grand Ole Opry, named initially ‘WSM Barn Dance,’ is the world’s longest-running radio show for Country and many other genres of music. There’s no doubt Grand Ole Opry is a part of history.
Where else would you want to go other than Music City? The city continues to grow, with new performers arriving weekly, not to mention the many classic artists like Kid Rock, Sheryl Crow, Bon Jovi, and Hank Williams. Nashville is home to The Country Hall of Fame and Museum and many concerts, festivals, and more.
Last but not least, I want to experience Southern Hospitality. Hospitality like using your manners, being kind and polite, and that Southern charm. The South loves to make guests feel like family and not rush conversations. The golden rule of the South is to do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
Speaking of Southern hospitality, let’s not forget top-grade food! The South loves to use meat in their dishes, but they also love to make things like fried green tomatoes, tomato pie, chicken and dumplings, and peach cobbler or classic hummingbird cake for dessert.
There are many reasons that Tennessee is number one on my to-visit list, but ultimately I am excited to see the culture of Music City. Tennessee will be one of the first places I visit as a travel writer.
